What is building automation ?

Building automation (BA) is the term for all monitoring, control, regulating and optimization equipment used in buildings. Thus, it is an important component of the technical building management. The objective is to execute functional processes independently (automatically) according to predefined settings or to simplify the operation and monitoring of such processes. All sensors (for example, buttons, temperature sensors, etc.), actors (for example, for the movement of blinds, for dimming or switching lights, etc.), operating elements (for example, touch panel, room controller), loads and other technical units are networked with each other in the building. Processes can be summarized in scenarios. A distinguished characteristic is the local allocation of the control units and the complete networking through a bus system.
